Mir ingredients
The philosophy behind Mir is to combine sustainable botanicals, rich in therapeutic properties with enlightened cosmetic science. My products are as natural as possible, but it is even more important to me that they benefit the long term health and beauty of your skin. The market is already saturated with products that are natural for the sake of it - products whose ingredients sound virtuous and pure but which leave you with clogged pores and irritation.
Mir is therefore free from:
Artificial and natural fragrance. Essential oils and other irritating botanicals. Colours and dyes. Heavy oils (avocado, peanut, olive, sunflower are examples) and other comedogenic (pore clogging) substances. Mineral oils. Alcohol. Animal derivatives. AHAs and BHAs. Soap and sulphates. (See also Section 4.)
Where the total exclusion of particular raw materials would adversely affect the skin's health or compromise the safety, stability or integrity of our products, these have only been included at minimal concentrations.
Simply put, when you see chemical additives in our ingredients lists rest assured that they have only been used where absolutely necessary and at the lowest possible levels. Using them enables us to formulate products that will give you beautifully balanced, clear, supple skin.
For example, our cleansers contain minute amounts of sunscreen which enables us to use cleansing agents and botanicals that are not only extremely gentle but also have skin-calming properties. The sunscreen prevents the gel turning into liquid when exposed to daylight. The alternative would be to develop a 100% natural cleanser which would clog your pores or a soap or sulphate based cleanser which would irritate your skin, disrupt its natural balance, dry it and cause blemishes.
Mir is formulated with a small number of skin-friendly ingredients used at benefical levels.
This makes them complex and time-consuming to formulate and very costly to produce.
Most of our botanical extracts are uniquely made to order for us. We don't believe in here today, gone tomorrow, five minute wonders so our key ingredients are chosen for their well-established, renowned, multiple skin care benefits. Here are a few with the products they feature in shown in brackets:
Argan oil Moroccan organic, cosmetic grade - our liquid gold Argan Beauty Oil, also found in Skin Silk Lotion, provides all the anti ageing advantages you could ask for with none of the disadvantages of the skin irritants and skin peelers found in typical anti ageing products PLUS it has the additional benefits of being anti inflammatory and non comedogenic. Used with the rest of the range it turns Mir into a Miracle. (Argan Beauty Oil, Skin Silk Lotion)
Marshmallow extract- calming and healing. (Skin Silk Lotion)
Persian organic rosewater - soothing, cleansing, refreshing and used for centuries to care for the skin. (Cleansing Gel, Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, Skin Silk Lotion, Skin Refresher)
Chinese green tea - anti oxidant and soothing. (Moisturising Lotion, Cleansing Gel, Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser)
Chinese white tea - anti oxidant and soothing (Skin Silk)
Aloe vera - used in our products at the correct, optimal levels is soothing, refreshing, healing and oh so cool! Used undiluted it is excellent on minor burns but - here's a little-known fact - when you use it at over a certain percentage in a skincare product it can have the opposite effect - a prime example of the Mir difference: we've got sensitive skin and we use Mir ourselves, so our products have to work for us and for you. African shea butter - superbly moisturising and soothing, leaves skin supple and smooth (Moisturising Lotion and Skin Silk Lotion)
Rosehip oil - nourishing, calming, anti ageing used in our products at the correct levels. Used undiluted it can be too rich for problematic skin. (Skin Silk Lotion)
Sodium hyaluronate - amazing skin-drenching ingredient (Moisturising Lotion)
Panthenol - soothing, smoothing, hydrating. (Moisturising Lotion)
Wild chamomile - soothing and healing. (Cleansing Gel, Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser, Moisturising Lotion)
Allantoin - soothing and healing. (Skin Silk Lotion, Moisturising Lotion, Skin Refresher)
Jojoba oil - close to the skin's own oil in composition an excellent oil for holding in moisture and soothing troubled skins. (Moisturising Lotion)
Jojoba beads - soft and smooth, they gently yet effectively remove loose skin flakes helping to keep skin fresh and clear. (Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser)
